Florida Peninsula Nature Nonprofits

The Florida Peninsula is a subtropical world unlike anywhere else in the continental United States, a low limestone platform riddled with crystalline springs and cloaked in pine flatwoods, scrub, and swamp. It is a land built on water, where aquifers surface as azure springs and where the Florida panther still slips through the shrinking wild. It is also one of the fastest-growing places in America, and that collision defines its conservation.

The organizations here race to protect a statewide wildlife corridor before it is severed, defend the springs from pollution and overpumping, and safeguard the scrub and flatwoods that shelter species found nowhere else. Their work is a bet that Florida can grow without erasing the wild ground that makes it Florida.
