heart of bs13

DEVELOPING OUR PROGRAMMES USING A STRONG EVIDENCE-BASE In 2020/21, Heart of BS13 invested time and resources into gathering two large data sets to inform the direction of our three programmes over the coming years. The Community Climate Action Plan and the Post-Covid Food and Nutrition Assessment engaged over 2000 people from BS13. This data gives us the framework for developing new and innovative projects that we pilot through a ‘test and learn’ approach and then move into long-term delivery. STATING OUR COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY, LOW CARBON INNOVATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION Like many organisations we’re constantly reviewing the actions we take to reduce carbon and operate in the world as sustainably as possible. From a no-paper office, work from home policies that reduce unnecessary travel, a zero-carbon commercial flower farm, the creation of new pollinator habitats, e-cargo bikes to transport our produce across the city, welding projects for young people that turn abandoned scrap metal into art, a closed-loop system that takes food waste from our kitchen to our Ridan composting machine to make the compost that fertilises our land, and a Climate Action Hub that supports.
