Downeast Salmon Federation

Unprecedented attention, collaboration and resources are converging to make the return of the iconic wild Atlantic salmon to the rivers of eastern Maine a reality.  Inseparable is an ecosystem approach in which people nurture and benefit from a full suite of sea-run fisheries:  alewife, river herring and shad, smelt, sea run brook trout, tom cod, sea lamprey, the American eel – and salmon – all abundant, all possible in a future within reach. Downeast Salmon Federation (DSF) is a hub, catalyst and leader engaging with local communities and an array of partners and allies on three fronts:  Replenishing Stocks; Conserving and Restoring Habitat; and Regional Education and Environmental Advocacy.
