Western National Parks Association

Western National Parks Association (WNPA) is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit education partner of the National Park Service (NPS), providing products, programs, and services to enrich the visitor experience. WNPA helps the NPS educate and connect visitors to the nature, history, culture, and recreation opportunities in our partner parks. We do this primarily by operating retail stores in park visitor centers and by developing educational products, some unique to our parks, that tell the parks’ stories. We also publish books including region-specific books, trail guides, maps, cookbooks, children’s books, and other educational content. WNPA was founded in 1938 as Southwest Monuments Association, supporting 18 national monument sites in the American Southwest. Over the intervening 80 years, we have grown to support 71 parks across 12 western states, operating 81 park stores. Each year WNPA provides millions in direct monetary aid and services to our national park partners and has given park partners nearly $98 million in aid since 1938. All of this is in support of one simple goal: to create advocates who want to preserve and protect these special places for everyone, for all time.
