Eco Barge Clean Seas

Eco Barge is a not-for-profit environmental organisation, and a Registered Charity dedicated to engaging our community to preserve and protect the breathtaking marine environment and wildlife of the Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef. Our core programs include removing marine debris from impacted beaches of the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsunday Islands, analysing marine debris data for impactful & actionable insights, transforming collected marine debris into circular products & materials, and responding to & caring for sick and injured marine turtles. Since we started in 2009, we have: Removed 264,261 kg of marine debris Run 554 barge trips to clean-up island beaches Empowered over 14,000 volunteers in helping keep our seas clean Cared for 293 sick or injured turtles in the Whitsunday Turtle Rescue Centre Beyond our core programs, Eco Barge drives awareness and education throughout the local, national and global community. We spread our message through eco tour experiences, educational signage within the community and hand-crafted art from marine debris to raise awareness to locals and visitors alike.
