Association pour le cheval de Przewalski – TAKH
Created in 1990 by the biologist Claudia FEH, TAKH has a 400-hectare site in Lozere on the Causse Mejean in ecological conditions close to those of Mongolia. In 1993, this site welcomed 11 horses from various European zoos. After several generations and about ten years to "relearn the wild life", 4 family groups of Przewalski's horses were reintroduced in 2004 and 2005 in the Khomyn Tal region in western Mongolia. Over the past 30 years, TAKH (which is the name given to the Przewalski horse by the Mongolians and which means "spirit") has developed a unique and proven approach, the "soft" reintroduction : reintroducing an individual with its social relationships. At a more global level, TAKH has structured a pilot project for integrated conservation that includes : steppe restoration protection of endangered species related to them promotion of sustainable development integrating environmental, economic and social aspects. Thus TAKH has created a sister NGO (Khomyn Talyn Takhi, KTT) in Mongolia in 2014 to manage the reintroduced herd of Przewaski horses of the Seer reserve (15 000 ha) and take charge of the relations with the national and local authorities and the nomadi.
