Yorkshire Wildlife Trust

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is a charity dedicated to conserving, protecting and restoring wildlife and wild places in Yorkshire. Our vision is for a Yorkshire that is abundant in wildlife, with more people having a genuine and meaningful connection with nature. Set up in 1946 to accept our first nature reserve, Askham Bog, we now have over 100 nature reserves across Yorkshire. From Flamborough Cliff, home to one of the most important sea bird colonies in Europe, to Potteric Carr, a mixed habitat nature reserve on the urban fringe of Doncaster where bittern, marsh harriers and bearded tits nest. We also work in partnership to ensure even more of Yorkshire is managed for wildlife, for example our Yorkshire Peat Partnership is restoring thousands of acres of peat across North Yorkshire to store carbon and provide a home to species including owls, sundew and much more. Our education and engagement team are encouraging people from all different backgrounds to enjoy wildlife, protect wild places and share their love for nature.
