Transumancia E Natureza – Associacao (atn)

We are an association with 20 years of history and work in the field of Nature Conservation. Bearing in mind your visit to our Faia Brava Reserve, allow me to present our project briefly. Located in the Côa Valley, the Faia Brava park has steep slopes where craggy granite rocks emerge, ideal for nesting of rupicolous birds. The key natural values are rupicolous birds, cork oaks, holm oaks, riparian habitats and temporary Mediterranean ponds. The park is near the municipalities of Pinhel and Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo. Faia Brava is part of a Forest Intervention Zone (ZIF), where ATN and 30 other forest owners have committed to develop a joint project for sustainable management of the cork oak. It is also part of the Vale do Côa SPA (Natura 2000 Network) and IBA (Birdlife International Important Bird Area) and, finally, the Vale do Côa Archaeological Park, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. In 2010 the Faia Brava Reserve was classified by the Institute for Nature Conservation and Biodiversity (ICNB) as the country's first Private Protected Area and is currently also a pilot area for the European Rewilding project. Faia Brava increasingly acts.
