The Dorset Children’s Foundation

The Dorset Children's Foundation (The DCF) is a small, independent, local charity founded in 2013. Our 3 charity shops in Bournemouth cover our modest overheads so that every single penny donated goes directly to the families we support, 100%. We receive no Government funding. Our mission is to improve the lives of families who have children with disabilities. The DCF understand that families with disabled children can often feel isolated and alone. Being a parent of a child with additional and sometimes complex medical needs can put on an immense strain. We support parent/carers by offering a range of services to help them cope with the many difficulties they face. We strive to put smiles on many children’s faces and help bring families of disabled children together, creating a network of support. The Dorset Children’s Foundation is parent led so we have adapted and grown according to the needs of our families. The DCF – Big enough to make a difference, small enough to care. This Community hub is a multi-purpose space for both children and parent/carers, complete with an accessible c.
