Sunrise Movement

Addressing the climate crisis will require a massive government-led transformation of our society. Sunrise has spent two years training our volunteers and aligning our partners around this idea. We identified a shorthand for this massive transformation -- the Green New Deal -- and turned it into the gold-standard for federal climate action. But in order to actualize this kind of sweeping societal transformation, history demonstrates we need three key ingredients: People Power: a large, vocal, and active base of public support. Political Power: a critical mass of enthusiastically supportive elected officials. A Political Alignment: a grouping of political and social movements that align around and set the common sense of a shared agenda for society.
