Special Bird Service Society

To remove barriers for the Global Majority (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour and the 2SLGBTQ+ communities) in accessing recreation, education, and habitat restoration opportunities. Through our intersectional and commonly held principles of; ecological stewardship, mental health advocacy and community-building, centered around birdwatching, we exist as a social vehicle to foster inter-generational knowledge transfers, while providing a safe-space for marginalized groups to build stronger communities and to deepen our relationships with the natural world around us. By holding workshops, seminars and outdoor events, our society works to foster climate resiliency and adaptations in our communities, providing community-based mental health solutions through nature therapy and outdoor recreation, as well as promoting conservation, preservation and stewardship of our ecological biodiversity for future generations to come through advocacy, research and habitat restoration. We exist to hold space for one another, while building community and connections, to the land, animals and people around us. The Special Bird Service Society's Mission as a syndicate of holistic, nature centred commun.
