Seedleaf

People lack connection. Seedleaf does its best work when neighbors are sharing work and sharing food, coming together over common tasks and needs. Neighbors and volunteers joining together in gardens come to be connected with each other, and to be reconnected with their food, and with the soil. These webs of connection cultivate social, capital nourish bodies and communities, and help to repair our urban environments. In 2007, the first Seedleaf community garden was planted in the historic East End neighborhood of Lexington, KY. Since that time, we have grown to managing 12 u-pick garden spaces. These include traditional annual gardens, permaculture gardens and a 2-acre urban farm. We provide workshops on composting and growing in community for adults and year round youth programming through school garden clubs for grades K-12.
