The Karuna Trust
Karuna supports some of the most marginalised communities in South Asia—people who are denied basic rights and opportunities due to discrimination, gender inequality and local social hierarchies. We work through grassroots partners, who themselves come from the same communities, ensuring projects are community-based, not imposed from the outside. Our work focuses on education, sustainable livelihoods, gender equality and climate resilience. We recognise that women and girls face the harshest impacts of both discrimination and climate crisis—from increased risk of early marriage and trafficking during disasters to losing access to education when families struggle with climate-related poverty. Through our partners, we build networks of support that give people the training and resources to become leaders and advocates for themselves.
